Disposal of IT Equipment
DISPOSAL: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW & WHAT YOU NEED TO DO
Since July 2007, the Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE Directive) was made law in the UK. It aims to minimise the impact of electrical and electronic goods on the environment, by increasing re-use, recycling and reducing the amount of WEEE going to landfill. It also means that you are legally obliged to dispose of your electrical waste in a manner that minimises the impact on the environment.
Equanet offers a wide selection of certified services for secure and WEEE compliant disposal. We provide logistics and pre-processing in which asset details are collected and items are sorted; certified data erasure at different levels; recycling at component level; certification of disposal under the WEEE Directive.
We offer clients the choice of on or off site data eradication. It is a fully certified, secure solution that also gives you peace of mind.

Our 100% secure data destruction uses Blanco software and ensures compliance with FISMA, HIPAA, SOX, FACT ACT and GLBA. We can even destroy the physical hard drives on or off site guaranteeing that they will no longer be of use. The metals are then granulated and recycled for other use.
We can also destroy items that are capable of holding data too, such as CDs and DVDs, floppy disks, flash media and USB devices.
The impact on the environment of IT hardware disposal is of paramount importance as is a way of securely erasing your data, that’s why we make sure that our partners are compliant with legislations such as the WEEE Directive, Data Protection Act, Landfill Act, Hazardous Waste, Health and Safety Act, Environment Act and Environmental Protection Act.
