Mark Garrett to lead the company’s strategic growth

This appointment is a great example of our determination to ensure Equanet maintains its commanding place in the market.

Phil Birbeck, Managing Director of Equanet.

Equanet, provider of IT solutions to business, has hired Mark Garrett as its new head of commercial. He is the most senior appointment in the ongoing programme of recruitment to support the growth plans for the Bury-based company.

With over 15 years of experience in the retail sector, Garrett will bring his considerable commercial knowledge to lead Equanet’s plans to expand its vendor relationships and business presence in the UK. As head of commercial, Garrett will be responsible for the marketing and commercial buying functions at Equanet. This new role, created as part of the company’s recent restructure programme, will involve managing brand development as well as growing the Equanet service and product range, developing partner relationships and ensuring customers continue to receive the best possible value.

Speaking of his decision to join Equanet, Garrett commented, “The new position of head of commercial at Equanet offers both a tremendous opportunity and an exciting challenge. Equanet has gone from strength to strength in the past two years, and I feel I am joining a team of passionate and skilled professionals who will help grow the company enabling it to meet the technological demands of businesses throughout the UK.”

In the first six months in the position, Garrett has very clear aims, “From a brand perspective, it’s vital that Equanet is understood by customers and partners alike for the business it is and aspires to be. This will involve consolidating the great work of the commercial and marketing team, promoting Equanet’s extensive portfolio of IT solutions to businesses and organisations across the UK. I am delighted to share my experience with a growing company and such a dedicated, dynamic team.”

Starting on the shop floor of games outlet, Gamestation, Garrett undertook several roles in the business, rapidly progressing to become commercial development director within three years of joining them. He went on to be the managing director of Digital Connexions from 2004 to 2010. Since then he has been working with and advising companies in the development of B2B video game and IT marketplaces.

Mark will bring a no-nonsense and direct approach, prioritising the customer in everything we do. He certainly won’t be afraid to challenge the channel’s tendency to promote product over customer and he’ll focus activities to ensure we deliver on Equanet’s Customer Promise of being the best provider of IT solutions. This appointment is a great example of our determination to ensure Equanet maintains its commanding place in the market.
