26 January 2011: NEW HEAD OF IT FOR EQUANET

Peter Ratcliffe joins IT value added reseller for business

Equanet has appointed Peter Ratcliffe as Head of IT, the second senior hire recently made as part of the company’s ambitious growth and transformation plans.

In this role, Ratcliffe will be responsible for IT services, and his first project will be ensuring that Equanet’s continuity and disaster recovery plans are ready, as well as ensuring that the IT service has a presence outside of Equanet’s headquarters in Bury.

Ratcliffe’s hire is part of a drive to transform Equanet by delivering sustained growth through increased focus on customers, and follows the recent appointment of Jamie Marshall as head of IT solutions for Equanet.

Ratcliffe joins Equanet from TDG Logistics, where he spent five years as a service delivery manager, responsible for ensuring the smooth running of 120 sites in the UK and several in the EU, all of which were managed from Manchester.

“I’ve been in IT since 1989”, said Ratcliffe, “and my very first job was fixing office computers for Dixons, so it’s good to be back at DSGi. Of course, over the past 21 years, I’ve developed along with the IT industry, and have welcomed the challenges thrown up as the industry changes, from running IT services at Manchester airport to moving eight servers from one location to another without any disruption. I’m eager to get started at Equanet, and look forward to the challenges ahead.”

Phil Birbeck, Managing Director at Equanet, commented: “Peter has an exceptional history of success in IT, and we are glad to have him on board. I look forward to seeing what Peter brings to the business, and wish him the best of luck as he begins.”
